The aim of this blog is to enable me to share my love of textiles and threads with like minded people.
I have always sewn either by hand or machine. I even taught it in the 1970s for a while.
I now create my own substrates on which to stitch. Natural methods of dyeing and botanical printing allow me to combine many aspects of my life that bring me joy. Gardens, art and stitch.

TAST Up and Down Buttonhole Stitch
This the latest TAST challenge - Up and Down Buttonhole Stitch. I particularly liked this one as it allowed for movement. To see more of these samples done by other bloggers see http://www.flickr.com/groups/56846286@N00/ .
Great sample. Quite a variety you have there. I'd never heard of this stitch before but found it relatively easy - unlike last weeks which I didn't get around to working!
Wonderful variety! It is amazing how it can change from square to curved! Thanks for the comments on my samples. I am also recently retired. I can't believe they pay you to stay home and play! I used to do watercolours and I've signed up for a course to work with one of my favorite artists. I'm really looking forward to it.
